Cate Goes Central America - Throwback : last night in antigua

There was just no way to upload pictures via the wifi in my two previous hangouts so here we go! Last friday (a week ago!!) Cayleigh and I hiked through Antigua, hungover, hot and tired to get to our shuttle. The fantastic semana santa carpets unfortunately has the side-effect om town that the streets are closed - thus no pickup service throughit town. xD

Anyways. The night before Cayleigh and I went in a nightwalk with the other people from the hostel and the staff (Choko, thanks for inviting us!) and saw even more intricate carpets being made. The Night before black friday is the biggest carpet-making night and it's crazy what they can achieve 🤓

The best part of the night was when Cayleigh asked if she could help and we both got to help spread the colors!! 😀 it was so spiritual, exciting and fascinating at the same time.

This was one was insanely intricate

The amount of work and precision is just mind-blowing and it is so cool that even small kids dit down and do this for hours and hours, just to have it destroyed by the processions a few hours later. Antigua was amazingly open and friendly and everyone was so including. IF you do have a chance to go there, please do and stay att El Hostal!
